Energy Investment Leadership - Dare 

Dare are a high growth technology focused energy business, who have a significant presence across commodities & energy trading. In the ten years since their formation, they have grown to 250+ staff and become a key player in the energy markets.

As part of their strategic growth plans, Dare were looking to appoint a Head of Asset Investment (investment director) to oversee their entry into the energy storage market.

Sonder & Metric were appointed to facilitate this new hire, and provide strategic guidance on structuring the appointment.

Challenges
This was a new hire into a brand new arm of the business.
Limited knowledge of where the right talent resided.
Limited knowledge of talent pool expectations around remuneration
Requirement for candidates to have a strong technical and commercial understanding of the asset class
Heavy competition from more established investors
Successful candidates required to build a team from scratch

Working in close partnership with the executive leadership team, we identified the non-negotiable aspects of the ideal candiate profile and the areas of flexibitily.
We identified and built a talent pool that matched the requirements of the role
We developed Candidate Briefing Packs to provide a consistent message to those who we intended to approach.
We surveyed industry leaders to obtain up to date remuration information
Provided advice on structure of potential equity agreements.

The Results

At the end of this challenging Search, we brought 5 high quality options to interview stage, eventually securing our preferred candidate.

Despite several challenges throughout the search and the niche nature of the role requirements, our perserverance and drive allowed us to secure a fantastic candidate for the business who continues to thrive to this day.
